Tips for Cleaning a Static Caravan | Allens Caravans
Allens Caravans

Not unlike any other home, a static home requires regular cleaning and maintenance to be kept in top condition.

Despite this, residential homes are often not made from the same materials as traditional houses, which may leave you confused about how to clean them. Typically, you won’t have to clean the brickwork of a traditional house, but a park home’s exterior means that it may require a little scrub every now and again.

Nothing is more refreshing than a deep clean where you discover endless hacks, like the best way to clean a caravan water system. Similarly, cleaning your caravan’s roof and water pipes using caravan water system cleaning will instantly freshen up your space. Allens Caravans is here with top tips on how to best clean your static caravan.

Internal Cleaning Tips

First things first, it’s always a good idea to tidy and clean one room at a time to avoid distractions and to add some structure to your cleaning routine. Once you see that one of your rooms looks fresh, you’ll be determined to get the rest of your home looking the same.

Secondly, cleaning your blinds can be a difficult feat due to all the different levels and dimensions. Therefore, we suggest that you attach a cloth to a ruler to give all those hard-to-reach spots a good scrub.

One problem that a lot of people face and don’t know how to tackle is limescale in the bottom of the kettle. This can easily be resolved by squeezing lemon juice into the kettle and adding cold water. You should leave this for around half an hour and then rinse well.

Instead of window cleaner, you can use a weak solution of white vinegar and water. Be sure to use a microfibre cloth to avoid rough textures that result in scratches.

Another widespread issue is the presence of heel marks on the floor; these can be easily removed using a pencil eraser. When identifying small defects such as these, you can make a list of any minor repairs that your static home needs as you go. This will signal what needs to be done in the near future. This includes the presence of mould spots or water ingress.

Finally, you should always pay special attention to the kitchen and bathroom, especially small corners. These can be scrubbed of any dirt using a toothbrush, anti-bacterial spray, and wipes.

External Cleaning Tips

Before you get going with the external cleaning, you should check your guttering for debris and flush it out with a hosepipe. After this, you should sweep and wash your decking area whilst checking that your outbuildings are in good shape. If you find that your decking has any stubborn stains, you might spray a small amount of bug cleaner directly onto the stain and clean it off after a couple of minutes. It’s a good idea to invest in a jet washer for your decking, but this shouldn’t be used on your caravan as it can result in damage.

If you find any creatures such as birds nesting in your home, be careful when removing them and consult a professional if necessary. Additionally, work from the top down when cleaning and polishing your caravan; you can start by loosening any dirt with a hosepipe or buckets of water. You should take extra care when dealing with the roof, using long-handled equipment to reach high spots. Finally, you should always ensure that you’re using soft materials to clean your exterior walls and windows to avoid damage.
