Caravan Show Record Attendance | Allens Caravans News

Over 100,000 people attended this year’s Motorhome and Caravan show at the NEC Birmingham, breaking records for both attendance and sales.

Taking place from Tuesday 15 to Sunday 20th October, the popularity of the six day event, as well as the record-breaking numbers of caravans, motorhomes and accessories sold to attendants, signals a major increase in public interest towards the caravanning industry.

The event is seen as a major outlet for companies to debut their new designs for 2014, with over 400 major manufacturers attending this year, including Airstream, Auto-Trail and Bailey.

There were also celebrities attending, including model and TV presenter Melanie Sykes who officially opened the event, as well as TV chef Ed Baines, who hosted live campsite-inspired cooking demonstrations throughout the event perfect for family caravan holidays.

All eleven of the NEC’s halls were packed during the event by caravan and motorhome companies who set up shop and gave demonstrations, altogether providing enough attractions for visitors to walk 0.7 miles around the arena in order to see them all.

Accessory superstores were also held onsite, offering the latest technological gadgets and travelling essentials at discounted prices, and where many customers this year picked up a bargain or two for planning short breaks in the UK or abroad.

It wasn’t just window shopping however, some of the highlights of this year’s show included its interactive activities, including motorhome manoeuvring lessons, free caravanning towing tuition and archery sessions suitable for all ages.

There were also opportunities to test drive cars suitable for towing caravans, such as the Skoda Superb, which won the Towcar of the Year award in 2011.

If you missed out however, don’t worry! The Motorhome & Caravan Show will be returning to the NEC in 2014 in October, whilst the annual Caravan and Camping Show will also be hosted at the NEC from the 18th – 23rd February 2014.
