Aber Bay is a beautiful and scenic holiday caravan park nestled near the picturesque town of Aberystwyth on the gorgeous coast of Wales. With caravans available for hire, Aber Bay can be your temporary home for a family holiday or an unforgettable short getaway. Located on the awe-inspiring Welsh coastline, this park is the perfect backdrop to a relaxing break surrounded by nature on all sides.
Note: There is extensive works going on around the Park, whilst we expand our plot selection and build our brand-new clubhouse - These works will be throughout 2021 and 2022, so this does mean unfortunately the Park will be without a clubhouse and all the associated facilities for a while.
We will be releasing information on progress throughout 2022 on these exciting projects.
Visiting Wales
For those who would prefer to head out and discover the surrounding area, Glan Y Mor is perfectly placed as a handy, central base from which to explore the sights and attractions of Mid and North Wales.
In addition, the park's proximity to the lively university town of Aberystwyth allows for easy connections to many of the highlights of the area. From shopping opportunities and eating out, through to taking a stroll along the promenade or ascending to the top of Constitution Hill on the cliff railway, there is plenty to see and do in this charming town.
A Family Favourite Reborn
Allens Caravans acquired the park that would become Aber Bay in 2017 when it was known as Glan-Y-Mor – meaning ‘seaside’ (or more literally ‘front of the sea’) in Welsh. It was a spot that had been used for holidays for over a century but now needed improvement. Allens Caravans made the biggest single investment in our history to transform this site into the finest caravan holiday experience that not only meets but exceeds the rising expectations of 21st-century guests.
After two years and a significant investment, Glan-Y-Mor has remerged as Aber Bay. While the original name lives on, attached to the original historic farmhouse that still stands in the centre of the site, Aber Bay is a truly modern caravan park in one of the UK’s most scenic spots.
Whether you are looking for luxury, adventure, or natural beauty, our spectacular Glan Y Mor caravan park in Wales can cater to it all.
Embrace the Outdoors
Aber Bay is not just near the beach – the beach is almost literally on your doorstep. The scenic Clarach Bay is, at most, a three-minute walk and our new clubhouse stands right at the top of the beach. It's easy to enjoy a wide range of natural activities and adventures, ranging from peaceful strolls along the beach to exploring rockpools and caves. After a storm, you can find all sorts of artefacts at the high-water mark, from seashells to mermaid’s purses. If you’re lucky you may even come across a valuable lump of ambergris!
In the other direction, the Cambrian mountains rise behind the park, providing another world to explore whether it’s on foot, by bike or by river kayak. Or take a steam train on the Vale of Rheidol Railway into the heart of the mountains at the spectacular Devil’s Bridge.
And it’s not just human guests who can enjoy the great outdoors – Aber Bay welcomes dogs in our caravans so your four-legged friend can come with you for all the fun.
A World Indoors
If you want to relax within the park itself, or if the Welsh weather takes a turn for the worse, Aber Bay still has plenty to offer. As well as curling up with a book or a film in your caravan (with park-wide WiFi available), there’s also our brand-new clubhouse. We’re proud to call this purpose-built structure the centrepiece of our reinvigorated park.
Inside is a bar, a restaurant, lounge areas and a space for live entertainment featuring the latest in audio-visual systems. There’s a heated indoor swimming pool and a games room.
A benefit of the Welsh climate is that you can enjoy glorious clear weather in the depths of winter just as often as things can get wet and wild in summer. So, the clubhouse also features an outdoor children’s play area and a rooftop terrace, meaning you can enjoy panoramic views of the sea and mountains while enjoying a meal or drink.

This new clubhouse embodies our commitment to sustainability and working in harmony with the nature that our guests are here to enjoy because it is important to look after the natural beauty so we can enjoy it at Aber Bay for years to come. The clubhouse is heated with a water-source heat pump drawing energy from the river that flows alongside the park and is designed to be as energy efficient as possible in its design.
On the Town
Although Aber Bay is ideally located for getting away from the hustle and bustle and enjoying the natural beauty of Wales, its proximity to the resort and well known town of Aberystwyth adds another dimension. From shopping opportunities and eating out to taking a stroll along the classic Victorian promenade or ascending to the top of Constitution Hill on the Cliff Railway, there is plenty to see and do in this charming town.
